Renee's Story

Renee Langlinais is the owner and designer of Amie Marie, a lux line of fine spiritual heirloom jewelry. Each piece is prayerfully designed with love in Louisiana and created to glorify God.

This is her story.

Years ago, I began wearing a twenty-seven cent rosary ring with my wedding bands; closest to my heart as a reminder to pray and put God first in life. After wearing it for a few years, I phoned a jeweler and family friend to design a white gold rosary ring. Sometime later, it slipped off my hand while YOLO boarding at the beach; someone else must have needed it more than I did.

In August 2020, God asked for my attention. I began fighting it, forcing what I wanted to do. After months of this internal battle, I finally gave in and headed straight to my resting place ~ the Adoration chapel. Crickets. Nothing...not one thing. As I walked out, I ran into a priest friend. Frustrated, I asked him, "What is God doing with me?" Nothing made sense. Knowing God wanted more of me, that following day I attended a weekday Mass. During the celebration, little things within the church began grabbing my attention. The beauty within the church that had always surrounded me suddenly became so captivating. After Mass, I decided to sit in the church for a while, and two hours later, I had written a business plan and had twenty design ideas.

Okay God, What do you want me to do now? I scheduled meetings with my spiritual director and three priests to present my idea and designs and they loved them. My spiritual director said, "Renee, this couldn't have come at a better time in your life. I think you should go for it." I called a large jewelry manufacturer and was directed to a professional jeweler who personally called me back. I was immediately impressed and we began working together. I design every piece with the jeweler's guidance in creating my vision. Adjustments were needed after receiving the prototypes, so I visited a local jewelry store for some help. The jeweler walked out and asked, "Where did you get this?" Before I knew it, the owners were listening to my story and wanted to know my vision. Long story short, they said, "We have been searching for a spiritual jewelry line, and we want your jewelry." Tears welled up in my eyes. I couldn't believe it, "You like my designs?!"

I left and immediately contacted my jeweler, who said, "This is wonderful news! You are ready. Let's schedule a zoom meeting." During the meeting, we learned a little about each other. He then kindly mentions, "I sense you are not a jeweler (I am not), but there is something about you and your designs. I feel you are serving a greater purpose than trying to make money. I want to mentor you. Here is my number; call me anytime." What!?! A highly qualified jeweler who has been in business for over thirty years wants to mentor me ~ another God wink. I was immediately overwhelmed, knowing this was what I had to do, what I needed to do.

A long time ago, I told God yes to whatever He wants of me. My one request of Him: please lead me and guide me. I know He is. I believe. Releasing control to Him is terrifying. I have to do it daily, and I fail daily. Putting yourself out there is terrifying, yet as I write that word, I am reminded of my favorite bible verse: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your understanding; in all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

On one occasion along my journey, I was thinking just how terrifying it would be to start a business. I walked into the Adoration chapel and found this prayer waiting for me, left by one of my earthly angel friends:

Mother Theresa's Do It Anyway Prayer
People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway. If you are honest and sincere, people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway. What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today will often be forgotten. Do good anyway. Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway.
In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.

Amie Marie Jewelry is named after my mom and my daughter. My mom's middle and Saint name, Marie, and my daughter, Amelie Claire's nickname, Amie.  Marie is also my confirmation name, and St. Marie is a newfound friend of mine, as she is the patron saint of laughter. St. Marie believes laughter cures everything. Amie Marie translates in French to Friend Mary.

Love and God Bless, Renee
